Director European Operations - Germany

Our client is a leading supplier of office products worldwide. With nearly 80 years of history behind them they have developed a substantial name in their industry expanding into 19 countries and employ in excess of 7,000 staff. In 2003 the group turnover approached €1.5B. For their European expansion we seek a highly skilled and motivated professional who has a proven track record in sales and marketing in the B2B sector who can demonstrate skills and ability to lead a business and drive sales growth. The role offers the successful individual excellent growth potential in Europe and beyond; the role holds a high profile position within the group.

The Role

  • Set up objectives (short and long term) for the operation including budget, marketing strategy, short and long term profit plan, sales forecast and recruitment plan.
  • Manage the entire European operations
  • Visit potential and key customers periodically
  • Coordinate with European Directors to confirm and accomplish the company objectives
  • Follow the Group Core Model
  • Motivate, Inspire and improve team spirit
  • Drive Sales forward both in the Field and Corporate Sectors
  • Budget and P/L responsible
  • Set up strong and regular communication with the Group

    Skills Required

  • Experience in sales and marketing in the field of consumer products.
  • You must currently be managing (indirectly or directly) a field sales force of a good size
  • Minimum 3 years experience at a senior level sales & marketing position within a large international company in the field of consumer products
  • Proven experience with marketing and sales practices, the laws of the market, standard business processes as well as ability to work within a demanding, result-driven, high-performance environment
  • Knowledge and practical experience with the application of advanced sales and marketing methods
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive working atmosphere
  • Able to work in a very challenging environment
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate a team
